Making the most of your autumnal outdoor portrait/brand shoot

PHOTOGRAPHY WITH HEART

Autumn Vibes: October usually brings cooler weather and autumn colours. Consider wearing layered clothing with warm hues like, mustard, brown or burnt orange to complement the seasonal backdrop

Seasonal Accessories: Hats, scarves, different jackets and other autumn accessories not only provide added warmth but can also serve as great props for your photos. They add personality and can create a cohesive look that matches the October atmosphere.

Skincare Routine: As the weather gets cooler, skin can start to look dry or dull. A week or so before your headshot, give your skincare routine some extra attention. Keep your skin moisturised for a healthy, glowing appearance.

Hair Care: The autumn wind can be quite strong at times, potentially causing your hair to be unruly in photos. Bring along some hair products like hairspray or hair clips to keep everything in place during your session.

Keep Warm: As temperatures drop, you’ll want to stay warm to ensure you look comfortable and relaxed in your photos. Bring a warm coat to wear between shots, and perhaps a thermos of a hot drink to keep your spirits up.

Choose the Right Footwear: While your shoes may not be the focus of a headshot, they can still impact your overall posture and comfort. Make sure to wear something that helps you stand confidently but also fits with the autumnal setting.

Embrace Natural Light: If possible, schedule your session for a time when you can make the most of natural daylight. The soft light can enhance your features and give your portrait a vibrant, fresh look.

I hope these tips help you prepare for your portrait headshot in October!
